Well folks, here it is. With this, we have completed Ikoku Nikki in its entirety. All 11 volumes. This volume contains the last four chapters and they’re pretty much exactly the same as the magazine versions. There’s a few screentones added and text got slightly bigger in one or two places but besides that they’re the same, so this wasn’t really a big effort to scanlate. The biggest differences are the cover and a couple nice bonus drawings right at the end.

We’ve worked on this series for about 3 4 years and it’s been a delight the whole time. It’s been a VERY difficult series to translate to make sure we understood everything properly and convey all the complicated speech patterns and character quirks in English. I really appreciate Yamashita-sensei for all her hard work bringing us this series. All the emotional complexity and all the complicated relationships between the characters alive and dead felt so authentic. If anyone was holding out till the end to read through the whole series, you’re in for a ride.

We’ll see what she does next and I’ll maybe think about working on it depending on what it is and what else is going on in my life at the time. Enjoy, everyone!

Well folks, here it is, the final chapter of Ikoku Nikki. It’s a really great conclusion and send-off for the series and I really loved this series from beginning to end. I’m so glad we were able to do the whole thing and bring it to everyone out there reading our translations. And translating this series was a serious challenge, it required every skill and every bit of wisdom I gained from over 15 years of translating to be able to figure out some parts of this and it sound as good as it does in Japanese (Or at least sorta close). So everyone, go tell all your friends to check out this series, it’s really incredible. I’ve certainly never read something quite like it.

Oh also a live action movie of Ikoku Nikki was announced. That ought to be cool.

As usual we’ll do a volume version of volume 11 when that comes out. It’s scheduled for August 8th. And if Yamashita-sensei does any sort of extra chapters or a sequel or a spinoff or anything like that we’ll definitely try to do those as well, if we can.

Otherwise I’m still working on Division Chief Shima Kōsaku volume 1, that’s most of the way done now. I hope we can have that done in the relatively near future.

And here we are at Ikoku Nikki 53. This chapter’s pretty good, more stuff in the vein of the last few chapters about the younger characters growing up an such.

It doesn’t seem like there’s a new Ikoku Nikki chapter in next issue of Feel Young so the next chapter may be after that, around June 7th or so.

There may or may not be a new 3-Gatsu no Lion chapter in the new issue of Young Animal next week, it’s kind of hard to tell because the website doesn’t list it in the text of the website’s “next issue section” but it’s in the actual page of the magazine (you see it in the image on the left there) written really small. So, one of those things is a mistake. Either way that issue comes out on the 14th Japan time.

Otherwise the next Jojo chapter comes out on the 19th Japan time and I’m in the middle of translating Shima Kōsaku volume 17, so still some time before those are done. Anyhow, enjoy this chapter, all!

Oh, also Zippyshare shut down so there won’t be any more Zippyshare links. I’ll maybe try using catbox.moe as a backup direct download source for now, unless anyone knows anything better.

Update: We’re now sure that there’s no 3-Gatsu no Lion in this week’s Young Animal. So we’ll check again in two weeks and see if it’s in that one. Umino-sensei may be taking time off from writing the series to do changes for the volume 17 tankoubon.

Here’s 52! Hope you enjoy. This one has less text than the last couple and is a lot more on the minimalist, emotional side of things.

Also check out volume 10 of Ikoku Nikki which we released a couple weeks ago if you haven’t yet. We’ve now done volume versions of 10 volumes in this series, it’s really come a long way.

The next release is probably going to be chapter 2 of The JOJOlands which should come out on the 17th Japan time, assuming all goes well.

And here we have volume 10. Same as last time, this is using the digital volume raws as physically scanning it wouldn’t really add any detail. Except we included the covers from the physical volume. The volume version of Ikoku Nikki are only very slightly changed, usually with adding screentones. Yamashita-sensei also made the paper Asa is filling out in chapter 46 have the same heading on every page rather than it changing after the first page. Plus the resolution is a little better and has one extra page at the end and clean color pages. That’s it! Not much changed. But I do like to get these done so they’re a definitive version. Oh, also apparently now the series officially has sold over 1.25 million copies! Pretty good for a series like this. Next chapter comes out next month, March 8th Japan time.

Our next release is probably gonna be chapter 1 of Part 9 of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, so look forward to that. I’m also working on Shima volume 15 whenever I have time between all this other stuff.

Here it is folks, the new Ikoku Nikki chapter. This one was really good, I thought. A lot of emotional exploration.

Volume 10 is now out in Japanese. I’m gonna work on getting a scanlated version of that done in the near future, but it’s not my highest priority. Next week the new Jojo part starts so we’ll be working on that. I’m also in the middle of volume 15 of Shima so I’m also getting that done at the moment. And then the following week is a new 3-Gatsu no Lion chapter! So lots going on this month. The next Ikkoku Nikki chapter is next month as usual. Anyhow, we’re doing a lot of manga so please read them.

Whew. Well folks, finally, at chapter 50, after about 5 years of serialization, we have finally come full circle and the timeline has reached the events of chapter 1. Something I’m sure plenty of us forgot about completely that chapter 1 takes place when Asa is in her third year of high school. But man we’ve come a long way, haven’t we, with this series?

Anyhow, there seems to be no chapter next month, but volume 10 is coming out in February 2023. So there’ll probably be a chapter the following month. At the moment I’m in the middle of translating Shima volume 12, so look forward to all that, ya’ll. Happy holidays.

Oookay here we are with this month’s Ikoku Nikki! It’s a good one, hope you enjoy. Feels like it’s continuing its examination of the major themes of the story that have been building up for a while. There should be a regular chapter next issue where Ikoku Nikki has the opening color pages.

DRCL volume 2 is finally almost done. I’ve basically just been working on that every day for the past 3 weeks or so. And I’ve translated some of Shima volume 11 but mostly I’ve been prioritizing DRCL so that’s probably not gonna be done for a little while. 3-Gatsu no Lion isn’t in the upcoming Young Animal issue so the next chapter of that is probably in the following issue. I’m gonna feel good once DRCL is done because that’s just been a huge headache and every step has been a slog. Ok, well, enjoy this chapter, folks!
