Hey y’all, here we are, chapter 41. As I’m sure a lot of you know, Araki-sensei has been tending to take off for October every year recently. This month/year he did NOT, but instead this chapter is pretty short. It’s just 25 pages long. Making it the shortest chapter he’s done in… a while. Not sure how long honestly, like sometime in Steel Ball Run I think. So yeah, check it out! Enjoy everyone! I’m going back to the Gintama mines and I’m gonna try to finish up this project of editing our old releases soon.

Also we released volume 9 a bit ago, check that out if you haven’t yet. And there’s a new 3-Gatsu no Lion chapter later this week also.

And here’s volume 9! It’s been kind of a while since the last volume, so this is from magazine chapters that came out like 9 months ago. Shoutouts to the Spanish group Luigi and Plastic Tears for cleaning/redrawing this. We’ve been making some scripts that should automate some of the more tedious parts of this getting things aligned and cropped and the text transferred over and such. There’s still plenty that has to be done manually though. I’m using those to find typos and little errors as well, just sometimes we’ll have done something as a stylistic choice so I need to check every single one.

Nothing text-wise really changed in this volume. One thing we’re changing though is rather than write “SEAL” every time on the stickers we’re just writing a note the first time it appears. Because the two kanji on the Point Blank Seal Stand are 封印. The second one just looked like the letters “EP” but it’s really a super-stylized “印”. Because the guy died a couple chapters ago that means it didn’t have some secret meaning and stand for something and was just a weird kanji. We also never found out exactly why it said “Kalakaua Ave.” on it. 封 means “seal” on its own as a phoneme but “封印” with both kanji together is the more standard word for seal. There’s a little description for it between two of the chapters.

Meanwhile we’re working on Shima volume 3, there’s a new 3-Gatsu no Lion chapter next issue of Young Animal, and we’re finalizing more Gintama. I’m hoping to finally finish this “redoing old chapters of Gintama we scanlated years ago” project pretty soon, hopefully.

Hey everyone, we’ve made it to chapter 40. Volume 9 has also just come out in Japan and it’s pretty much the same though they did fix the places where Usagi says “200,000 dollars” instead of 300,000. And it seems the chapters will indeed be called “Point Blank Seal” rather than the “Usagi, Fraud and Suspicion”. This chapter actually finishes up the chapters that will make up volume 10, for some reason there was an extra long break between volumes. I ordered it and once I get it I’ll work on getting a volume version done as usual, just we’ve been doing so much scanlating lately I kinda need a break and I usually end up doing these volume versions mostly on my own so I dunno how long that’ll take. Next chapter of The JOJOLands comes out October 19th Japan time.

In other news, we’re working on Executive Director Shima volumes 2. We’re working on finalizing that now. I’ve translated a couple chapters of volume 3. And I’m in the middle of finalizing Gintama volume 52. I’m gonna try to get the remaining Gintama magazine-to-volume versions done in the near future cause I’m kind of sick of working on them, but they have so much text it takes a while to full check everything. But I want to fix all the minor mistakes from when we did those chapters back in like 2015, at least as much as I can.

Give it up for chapter 39! In this chapter the gang discusses reading manga digitally as soon as it goes on sale at midnight Japan time while living overseas in a different timezone. Can’t imagine what that’s like. Anyhow next chapter releases on September 17th Japan time. Volume 9 also comes out on that day, incidentally.

In the meantime, we’re working on Executive Director Shima volumes 1-2 and I’m in the middle of finalizing Gintama volume 54.
