Ring Volume 3 (End)

WHUHUWHAAAH…?!

OOooOOooOoOkaaay!
After many months of working and even longer of planning and trying to put this project together, volume 3, and thus ALL of Ring is now done! Like I said before, I think this is an excellent short series and very much worth reading. I love the characters that Shimabukuro-sensei makes and the story he creates for this series is really an exciting one. Me and high8sky put a ton of work into this series and I really wanna thank her for all the time she spent cleaning, redrawing, and typesetting it. I originally scanned the first volume back in 2012 and the reason it took so long before we got anywhere was because I didn’t have people to rely on to get it scanlated until last summer, and without her I dunno if I’d ever have gotten this done. It was also a motherfucker to translate because of all the jokes, characterization and sports jargon. Now, the end of the last chapter says this is the “End of Part 1”. But it ended in 2005 so don’t get your hopes up for a continuation at this point. But really, who knows? For now, Ring is complete, and I really hope everyone reads and enjoys it. As for what comes after this, there’s still Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi! to do. Which, I may at least try to start at some point in the future (Unless someone else does it before then). That series is REALLY long and it’s a comedic manga so it’s really hard to translate, scanlate, everything really. But it’s also a really great series that really shows off Shimabukuro-sensei’s comedic talent. But if you’re not familiar, I translate quite a bit on top of managing this group. Right now I’m translating: Toriko, Gintama, JoJolion, Innocent, Real, Wolfsmund, 3-Gatsu no Lion, 81diver, Billy Bat, and the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure 4th: The Book novel. Those are on weekly/monthly/seasonal/yearly/whenever bases depending on the series, and that’s in addition to managing this group, helping manage the groups I’m doing the other projects for, and trying to do volume scanlations for Toriko, Gintama, and JoJolion. I really need to get a little further to finishing some of those before I can take on a big project like Takeshi, and even if I do try to do Takeshi I still need the staff for it plus I dunno if I’ll want to do all of it given how long it is. So it’ll take some time before starting something like that. Regardless, I’m certainly trying to get through this stuff in the near future. Until then, go read Ring, everybody!

Ring Volume 2

Nu…?!

OOokaaay! After many long months of working on this series, volume 2 is finally done! As I went through more of this series, the more I really got into it. It’s a fun series with good characters but also has a good exciting sports-manga feel to it. And the sport of Ring I really think is interesting. It makes for some cool moves and ideas for how playing a game of it works. Thanks a ton to high8sky who worked really hard to get this whole thing cleaned and typeset in just a couple weeks. I’ve got volume 3 translated and we’re hoping the process of getting the 3rd and final volume goes smoothly and doesn’t take too long. So please, check out this manga if you haven’t yet, everybody. I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Ring Volume 1

Wha…?
Ring_v01_ch001_pg020

All right. So, I can now finally present Ring volume 1. Man, this is another thing that was a really long time coming.
So lemme introduce this, this series is called Ring. Not the horror movie. It’s written by Shimabukuro Mitsutoshi, author of Toriko. It’s a short series, only 3 volumes long, written in 2004-2005 in Super Jump (a biweekly seinen magazine) after the end of Shimabukuro’s first series, Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi which ran in Shounen Jump. Takeshi was a really huge, long series that was one of the most popular series in Jump during its heyday. So I’d like to maybe work on that series at some point after this one is done, because working on a series like the kind Shimabukuro-sensei does is tons of work (and we don’t have tons of people) plus this one is shorter so we’re doing this one first. I scanned this volume back in 2012, but haven’t been able to make much of any progress until the last few months because I was always busy with tons of other stuff. We’re gonna really try to get through the other two volumes in not too too long. But it’s just me and high8sky working on this, so it’ll depend on both of our schedules and I tend to severely overwork myself anyhow.

Uh, basically what it’s about. It’s a sports manga about a sport that Shimabukuro-sensei made up. It’s really good. The comedy’s really great, and a lot of the style from Takeshi really shines through here. I think a lot of stuff that was in this manga ended up being the basis for a lot Shimabukuro-sensei used in Toriko, too. So give it a try, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
