Here’s this, everyone! More fun happy times with Akari-san. I hope you enjoy it. These chapters have tons and tons of text despite being not many pages so they’re a lot harder than the ones with nothing but a couple narrative sentences on black bars. Anyhow, there’s no new 3-Gatsu next issue so the next one is PROBABLY the issue after that which comes out August 24th. In the meantime the next Shima Kosaku volume is almost done. So until then, see ya!

Ok so here’s a short chapter, the second “Small Talk” chapter since the last one in volume 6. It’s still a pretty fun one! I hope you enjoy it. There’s no chapter in the next issue of Feel Young so the next Ikoku Nikki chapter will come out in September, probably.

Section Chief Shima Kо̄saku Volume 6

Whew! We made it to volume 6! Finally, after working on this for about 9 months now, we’ve made it to this volume where a bunch of the main characters are introduced. I won’t go too much into it but this volume is one of my favorites and it starts up a bunch of the best plotlines of the story which will continue for the next few volumes. Plus it’s also got a ton of good shorter episodic stories in it.

Anyhow, I’m doing this series whenever I have time so I dunno how frequently new volumes will end up coming out. Regardless, I hope you enjoy it! I’m glad folks are enjoying this series so far.

And here we are with this month’s Ikoku Nikki, chapter 47! By the way Ikoku Nikki has sold over 1 million copies as of the last one and volume 9 is getting an additional printing, so it’s doing pretty darn well. Anyhow, see you for the next chapter next month! I’m gonna go keep working on Shima Kosaku stuff.

Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi! Wide-Ban 1 & Wide-Ban 2 (Updated)

Hey everybody so here’s this, it’s a fairly minor update. PronouncedSmith was very kind as to go through all of Wide-Ban 1 and update the typesetting to match the style we used for the whole rest of the series. Originally we did wide-ban 1 in 2016-2017 and there were some long gaps when JoeAbandonedMine took over and changed the style up. This includes typesetting all the sound effects in-line rather than in the margins. Also we made the pages have all the same-sized margins so the single pages are the same width. I also added a couple color pages we found later on. Also we changed the ordering of the extra pages from the volumes from being all at the end of the wide-ban to being at the end of the chapter they appeared after originally like we did for the rest of the series (I think that reads a lot more smoothly). We redid wide-ban 2 at one point also but I never made a news post for it so I added that to this post, too, for posterity. That’s basically the same except for adding one color page and moving the ordering of the extra pages.

Anyhow, that’s it! I think it’s nice we got it all done at the same level of quality like this. Enjoy!

Section Chief Shima Kо̄saku Volume 5

All right, here we are with Shima Kōsaku volume 5! The last one was about 7 weeks ago. But we’re still going at a pretty good pace I’d say. DRCL took up all my time for a while plus the Ikoku Nikki stuff. But now finally I’m all that and now I can relax a bit. Which I probably won’t do anyhow I’ll probably just work on translating something else. Probably the next Shima volume.

Ok so uh this volume is made up of the rest of the Kyoto arc. As in most of this series, it’s made up of a lot of episodic events with a few changes in some larger plotlines. A lot of the Shima Kо̄saku series is about examining different types of people and different parts of life. Seeing personal struggles in the world from different perspectives. That’s part of what I really like about it. But as a result there is a LOT of text to translate and a LOT of subject matter that you need to understand well enough to word properly in English. So each of these is a lot of work. I’m sure if you read a lot of manga you can tell a lot of the word bubbles have a lot more text than most other series. The vast majority of the effort with these goes into translating as opposed to something like DRCL which was easy-ish to translate but then took forever to clean and redraw. Anyhow if you’d like to volunteer to help at one of the jobs (cleaning or typesetting or proofreading mainly with this series) out you can feel free to email me kewl0210@gmail.com.

Next volume is one of my favorites because it’s where two of the main characters of the series finally show up. So look forward to that.

Ikoku Nikki Volume 9

And here we are with volume 9. Like last time, this is the volume versions of all these chapters we original did using magazine raws. They’re slightly upgraded/corrected with some added screentones and stuff but generally speaking they’re pretty similar to the magazine versions. This series isn’t that much work to do these for because the digital raws are generally good quality so the more annoying stuff from physical scanning and manual cleaning isn’t needed. And also there’s just not many changes. The biggest change is the cover, inside cover, and extra page at the end. The volume versions of this series are much easier to do than all the other series we do two versions for. The next chapter is scheduled for next month at the usual time on the 7th Japan time. I’m gonna get back to working on Shima Kosaku v5 now. See ya later!

Here ya go ya’ll. Chapter 46. There was no chapter last month so this is the first one in a bit. There’s another regular chapter next month. Our volume-version scanlation for the new volume, volume 9, is almost done. So that should be released whenever the last couple things get finished. Meanwhile now we’ve finally got DRCL released I can get back to working on Shima Kousaku. Sooo that’s what I’m working on. How are you all doing?
