Stronger, faster, further! Is clearly not what happened to the release schedule of this series lol. I got really busy for a while there so apologies for the delay. The next chapter is actually already out and we’re working on it. I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
And so this arc has finally come to an end, I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did! The next chapter will be out on the 26th of July. There’s a very high chance that I’ll be busy around that time but I’ll still try to get the chapter out. Until then, enjoy and see you again soon!
You thought it was the climax of the arc but it was me, a tired redrawer. Me complaining aside, we recently acquired a way to get the raws on the same day the physical magazine come out so there won’t be a 2-week delay between when the chapter is out in Japan and when we can get them anymore. The next chapter will be out on June 28th, so see you then!
Ok, so this one’s done. Next chapter of 3-Gatsu is in the issue of Young Animal that comes out on May 24th. So see you then.
Otherwise, if you haven’t heard, the next chapter of Gintama comes out on Monday the 13th in Japan. So I’m gonna be working on that pretty soon. It’s just the first chapter of what seems to be… more than one. Probably gonna come out monthly. I’m working on getting more chapters of Ikoku Nikki translated but Huldra is still tied up in a lot of real life stuff that makes getting the chapters cleaned and typeset difficult. And Innocent Rouge V10 comes out on the 17th so I’m translating that in advance using the magazine chapters right now. After that I’m gonna go back to volume 35 of Gintama, so, a lot going on.
Looks like the story will take a short break from the exciting development that has been happening in previous chapters to focus on a supporting character. This chapter was quite unpleasant to redraw, this was basically me the whole time I was redrawing it. I don’t want anyone else to have to redraw this chapter so contact me if you want the PSDs. And from what I have heard from Kewl, it wasn’t particularly an easy translation either.
The raws for the next chapter should come out around the beginning of next month. While this series runs in a biweekly magazine, not every issue have a chapter. Until then, I hope you enjoy the chapter.
Like Kewl has said in the post for the previous chapter, I’m the volunteer who will be helping with scanlating 3-gatsu chapter. Nice to meet you all.
I saw some confusion last time so I’ll repeat it to clarify it. We’ll do regular releases instead of a yearly one, as long as I’m available to do so that is. If I’m unable to help out then Kewl will go back to a yearly release.
And with this chapter, we have caught up to the raws. The next one should come out on the 1st of March and we’ll work to release them soon-ish.
Hey, so we have someone who volunteered to do all those various tasks I said we’d need someone to volunteer to do in order for me to have time to do this series chapter-by-chapter using Young Animal magazine raws. Say thanks to Dascalon, everybody. Thanks to them we’re gonna try to do this. They’re getting raws, cleaning, redrawing, typesetting, and helping release them too. We decided on using the digital raws though (Digital Young Animal comes out 2 weeks after the physical one) to save time and effort. And if for some reason they can’t do it anymore we’ll just go back to the volumes later. We’ll try to get a volume version of these done too once that’s out.
Also just so you know, in volume 14 they combined chapter 152 and 153 into one chapter. So while this is 154 in the magazine, it’s 153 based on the volumes. Making things very confusing. Hopefully Umino-sensei fixes the chapter numbers later on so we don’t have this discrepancy.
Anyhow, we’ll try to do more soon. I’ve got a bunch of IRL stuff going on I’m balancing this with. Check it out, hope you enjoy.
Ok, ok, oook, I think I finally did it.
Here we are, 3-Gatsu no Lion volume 14.
I’m real exhausted. I translated this all in advance in the weeks leading up to the volume coming out (on 22nd of December). Then spent most of my free time after that getting it cleaned, redrawn, and typeset. Thanks a ton for Huldra and Lyndis helping out on one of the cleaning and typesetting respectively.
Oh and check out these commercials of animated scenes from this volume that Shaft did to advertise the volume!
So, if you just wanna go read the series, go check it out. There’s one thing unrelated that I wanted to address that I’m going to mention here. If anyone’s wondering, the reason we don’t try to do these with issue chapters is a few things. They should be fairly obvious but I’ll post them here in case anyone isn’t sure.
1. I don’t have time. I’m doing this all mainly by myself and it’s a huge amount of work. Doing that would be even more work and time and it would be another thing I’d need to focus on all year, rather than just once at the end of the year.
2. There are issues with getting the raw magazine chapters. The physical magazine comes out before the digital magazine by 2 weeks. So if we wanted to do it AS SOON as it was available in Japan it would be very time consuming as we’d need to go physically buy the issues of Young Animal and scan them. And the physical magazine’s print quality is worse than the digital versions. Also the series also doesn’t run in every issue, and it’s sort of random which issues it does run in. You’d need to check the official website’s preview for the next issue every issue to know if it had 3-Gatsu in it so you know whether to get it or not.
3. The volumes are the highest quality version by a long shot. Besides the much better resolution from scanning the physical volume, Umino-sensei makes a number of edits on every chapter, so there’s textual differences (Both character lines and artwork gets changed). Plus the extras added in between chapters and at the beginning and the end. You could consider the volumes the “finalized, archival” versions. We’d rather work on the best version possible. Also trying to do both volumes AND the magazine versions would be exceedingly more time consuming, as you’d need to clean and redraw everything twice on top of getting both raws. Plus you’d need to transfer over all the old typesetting and add in any and all differences.
That said if someone wants to do all that, take responsibility for getting the magazine raws and cleaning and typesetting them when they come out, I could do those as well, but otherwise I won’t have time. And I really don’t expect anyone to do that at this point.
