Hey ya’ll so here’s what’s going on. Here’s chapter 29 of The Jojo series part 9 – The JOJOLands. There’s more fun fighting over a magical rock action in this one. There’s no new chapter next month (October) and the next chapter comes out November 19th Japan time.

So ComicK has closed down. And we were using that as our “main” place to upload to as an online reader new releases (You can still download them from this site same as always). So we need to move that somewhere else. This just happened a couple days ago so I’ll see where people ultimately move. For now I started a process of making a reader-mirror on Cubari.moe. There’s one URL for each series and I’m listing them all on the reader page you get to by clicking “Reader” in the site nav bar.

If you’re not aware how that works, Cubari is just a reader not an actual host, it’s taking images hosted somewhere else and sticking them in a manga reader. We’re hosting images on a hosting site called Image Chest which uses a single file stored on a Github repo to create a JSON document to hold all the metadata which lets you make one big page for reading one series. Also you can then edit/manage those things with facaccimo and batch upload/update them with a python command line tool called Kaguya. So it’s using a bunch of different independently-made tools and I have to do this for like 1500-some-odd chapters of manga which require having the correct volume number, chapter number, and title, so it’ll take some time. (Though you can sort of quickly and easily change image hosts if there’s a problem with one once it’s all done, just by re-running all the batches with a different image host’s API). I put up all the manga we’ve done recently on there and I’ll be going through some older stuff slowly.

I’m also going to upload to MangaDex where we still can (We can’t for chapters that were taken down specifically and they may take more down in the future) and I may look into uploading our whole library to bato.to as well but I haven’t had time to start on that yet. I hope you all can be patient with that, and hopefully another good safe place shows up. Most of the big aggregator sites don’t have tools for scanlators they’re just ripping from some other place and putting them up on their site and we can’t do things like upload when we want or edit them so we can put up the fixed/better raws versions of everything. So please support the sites that let us do that sort of thing. So that’s how I’ve spent my last couple days, sounds fun right?

In other news Managing Director Shima Kousaku volume 3 is almost done, I have like a chapter and a half left to translate and then we need to typeset it and check everything. I have 7 Gintama volumes left to scan which I do whenever I have some time to do that, once those are all done I’m gonna get back to trying to do more volume versions of that once they’re all digitized. Though I don’t know how frequently I’m gonna do them, how much work I’m going to do in every single one, etc. So all that’s happening. How are you all doing?

Okay, here we are, volume 6! As usual, this is mainly just a more-final version of these chapters. They’re using the physical volume scans which have the highest resolution, more image data on the top and bottom of the pages, and have all the little additions and changes Araki-sensei makes after the magazine versions. We made a few tiny adjustments to the text but it’s nothing much. And it has those couple extra pages in between chapters with descriptions of Stands and all that. I spent like the last two weeks of my time working on this every day so I hope you all enjoy it.

Meanwhile, there haven’t been any new 3-Gatsu no Lion chapters. Volume 18 is still scheduled for September 28th. And I’m working on Managing Director Shima Kōsaku volume 3. The next regular The JOJOLands chapter comes out the 19th Japan time. And I’m very exhausted from too much happening in my life so I’m trying not to overwork myself with this stuff. Anyhow, enjoy this.

Hey so here’s this month’s The JOJOLands! More of that same fight happens! Uhh it’s 36 pages long! See you again next month! Also volume 6 came out today in Japan. So we’ll be working on that. But it takes some time to get the physical raw, scan it, and then re-clean and re-redraw the whole thing.

There was no new 3-Gatsu no Lion chapter this month. It said there was going to be one in the next-issue-preview but then there wasn’t one. I’m almost done translating Managing Director Shima volume 2 but I’ve had just all sorts of other things on my mind so I couldn’t work on this every day. I also got a bunch more Gintama volumes scanned.

Hey all we’re back. Here’s this chapter. Lots of action in this one. We’re back to the usual page length. And next chapter comes out on the 17th Japan time. So like slightly earlier. And that’s along side volume 6 which we’ll work on after that.

Besides that, it’s basically working on the same stuff as from a few days ago. Working on Managing Director Shima volume 2 and scanning more Gintama volumes. When I have time to do this sorta thing. I’m pretty tired I was busy all day the last several days and now I can take a break sorta. Besides, ya know, working at my job.

And here is chapter 24. This one also is done with a digital raw. I still have no idea how often we’ll be able to get digital raws early or when we’ll have to rely on physical raws, or if we won’t be able to get a physical raw either, it’s very up in the air, and very exhausting when you need to plan your month around this. This chapter has more of the intense negotiating on the yacht with Howler. It’s a pretty good one! I hope you all enjoy it.

Also there is NO new chapter of The JOJOLands next month. Araki-sensei is seemingly taking off from this series to write a new Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan chapter in Ultra Jump next month called “Episode #12 Bruschetta”. We won’t be working on that as usual because we just aren’t doing that particular spin-off series anymore (We did volume 1 a long time ago but haven’t worked on it since then, I’m not not really interested in it). So the next The JOJOLands chapter comes out in the issue of Ultra Jump that comes out on May 19th. We’ll see you around then.

Meanwhile, we just finished Division Chief Shima Kōsaku so go check that out if you haven’t yet. I started work on the first volume of Managing Director Shima Kōsaku. Otherwise I haven’t had much time to focus on manga because I’ve had a lot of other problems going on in my life outside this hobby which are seemingly slowly improving. But it’s been quite exhausting.

Edit: We’re gonna try a thing where we update these with higher-res raws they use for the Chinese version a little after release. It requires some manual work and we can’t get those early so it won’t look like this with the original release but I thought that would be worth a try. Ultimately we’ll keep replacing these with volume versions down the line regardless which are the best/final version. Thanks to Luigi for setting this up.

We’ve replaced the magazine versions of chapters 22-24 using those higher res raws and all the links are updated too. We’ll keep this up so long as we don’t run into any major issues with it.

Hey everybody, here’s chapter 23. This one was done with a digital raw like we do most of the time. We’re still having lots of problems with getting early raws so I dunno how often that will happen or when we’ll need to use physical raws or if we won’t be able to get an early raw at all. So working on this has become a lot more stressful and on top of that I’ve had a lot of problems in my life outside this hobby lately which I’m pretty depressed about. Anyhow, it’s a good chapter and I hope you all enjoy it. In the meantime I’m still working on Division Chief Shima Kosaku volume 13, and a little less than half way through translating it now. So yeah that’s it. Next month’s chapter comes out on the 18th Japan time as well. Generally speaking the magazine comes out on the 19th every month. I dunno why these sometimes come out early by a day or two it’s pretty weird.

Hey ya’ll, here’s this month’s chapter. For this chapter we scanlated it from a physical raw because that’s the only raw we could get early this month. Which may happen more in the future probably because we’ve had a number of problems getting early raws recently. Possibly we won’t be able to do it early at all depending on how things go but we’re continuing to do that as much as a means of combating snipers, which always happens with this series, much to my personal frustration. Anyhow if you noticed it looks a bit different than usual, that’s why. We all worked really hard on this chapter. I worked nearly 24 hours straight on it. So I hope you all enjoy.

Besides this, go check out our scanlation of volume 5, I also worked super hard on that. I’m in the middle of translating Shima volume 12, which I should finally have time to finish now after all the stuff from the last few weeks. Really looking forward to doing that and maybe some other projects where I can do at whatever pace I want and don’t need to cram the whole thing into one day.

Hey everybody, I hope you’re having a good new year. Man we’re 5 volumes in already. Time sure flies. As usual this is mainly just a higher resolution version of the existing chapters with more image on the tops and bottoms and slightly less on the sides. And as usual this is done with scans of the physical raws which are way higher resolution than the digital ones. There’s also a handful of pages with new screentones and more blood spatter added and some things like that but they’re hard to notice if you’re not comparing the pages directly. I mentioned this in the last The JOJOLands post but also the name of the banker “Mack” has been changed to “Yokohama” and Acca Howler is now the 8th head of the Howler family rather than the 76th. Also a bunch of the numbers having to do with the loans and such changed for some reason.

This compiles up to the chapter that came out just a month and a half ago so there’s not much buffer between the magazine and volume chapters now. The next one is scheduled for just “Spring 2025”. The next chapter, which is chapter 22, is set to come out on the 18th Japan time. We’ll try to get it out as soon as we can as usual but stuff with raws has been more difficult lately so we’ll see what happens. In the meantime since Kokou no Hito’s been finished I’m going back to working on Shima volume 12. And there’s a new 3-Gatsu no Lion chapter coming out in the next issue of Young Animal that comes out on the 24th Japan time.
