Ok, and we have the next one done. Scanlations are slowly but surely catching up to where I have translated. Though I’m hoping I can get the rest translated in the next few months if I can manage to squeeze it in among all the other stuff I have my time used for.
And again, if anyone didn’t see before, there’s no Weekly Shounen Jump this week (The week of December 25th-31st). And it’ll be back next week.

And here we are again with this!
There’s no Jump next week as the 2nd of the 2 weeks off that are always done at the end of the year with Jump. So see you all in the new year for more Gintama. The new anime starts on the 8th in Japan, so we’ve got that to look forward to.
Off topic, but I also found this funny FAQ page in volume 66 that I translated for fun.

Ok, Jojolion’s back. Check it out.
There were some announcements with ads you might’ve seen online. There’re bunkobans of Steel Ball Run coming out, a new smart phone game called Diamond Records coming out next year, Volume 14’s coming out today I think, and they said more stuff will come out for the 30th anniversary in 2017. Though technically the first chapter of Jojo ran in Jump something like December 6th 1986, but the first volume didn’t come out until 1987, so it’s really PAST the 30th anniversary already. But I think the idea is 2017 is Jojo’s 30th 12-month calendar year so they’re celebrating the 30th anniversary all through next year. Plus there’s the live action movie coming out and all that. Also Jump Ryu, a little behind-the-scenes magazine/DVD about Araki and Jojo is coming out on the 31st if anyone wants to check that out. So there’ll probably be some cool stuff soon coming down the pipes.

Whew, all done. It’s been a little while since the last one of these. Anyhow, this is a really great volume. One of my favorites, and one of the best characters in the series is introduced in it. I hope you all enjoy it. As usual, thanks a lot to high8sky for putting so much effort into cleaning, redrawing, and typesetting all of it.

Aaand here’s chapter 2! If you don’t know anything about Takeshi, check out this introduction I wrote up with the last chapter. Like I said in said post, it’s a really wordy series that takes a while to do. And I’m balancing it between some other projects, so I dunno how frequently me and the staff can get it done for now. But I’ll try to not let it get to be TOO long between chapters. This one’s another fun one, still slowly setting up the basic premise. Though all the battle-manga parody stuff doesn’t happen for a few more chapters still.
I hope you check it out! It’s a really good series.
(Also I made a slight edit and fixed a mistake with the page numbering in chapter 1 if you’re interested. It’s nothing major. The links in the first post/downloads page are updated.)

Ok, here ya go, check it out!
There’s no Jump next week, probably. I mentioned this last year (and a number of years before that) but Jump takes 2 weeks off at the end of the year every year: one on, one off, one on, or sometimes the middle “on” one comes out early and then it’s 2 weeks off. Anyhow, I’ll be working on getting other projects done in the meantime.
Anyhow, happy holidays, all!

Ok, all done. This took a while but it’s all done. A good volume, lots of story development, and now we’re all caught up on this one too! The next volume comes out in “Spring 2017”. So like the 19th of the month on one of the Spring months. K, so now that Innocent and 3-Gatsu are all caught up, and Toriko’s done, I’ve got free time to work on some stuff and spend free time doing some things I had to put off for months as I finished all that stuff this year. I hope I can get that done a bit. I have a ton of manga I’ve got on my backlog I kinda want to get to. I’d also like to get the rest of 81diver and The Book done at some point.

Ok, these are all done. Good chapters, check them out.
As mentioned, there was no Jojolion chapter in Ultra Jump next month and it should be back to its normal schedule later this month.
Also the next Innocent volume should get done pretty soon.

OOokay, so this was a long time coming. but here it is, Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi! chapter 1. The first series done by Shimabukuro Mitsutoshi, author of Toriko. I wanted to work on this series a looong time. I think I bought the series back in 2011. We’re gonna do this series by chapters because we’re using wide-bans as raws, which is a sort of deluxe reprint version of the series which is a little less than 2 regular volumes worth in length. So it’s kinda too much to try to release at once. The series has 13 wide-bans, totaling 247 chapters (And given that it’s a gag manga mostly, it’s quite wordy and takes a lot of effort to translate each chapter. Like waaay more than 81diver). I’m also not saying I’m gonna do the whole series, I’m just gonna start at the beginning and see where it goes. I’ve got a lot of projects I’m doing right now and a lot are ones I started like many years ago. I dunno if I’ll be able to finish them because as talked about in my post about Toriko’s ending, I do this as a hobby and I have a full time job. Trying to get a long series done on a weekly basis or something close to that can be impossible sometimes without losing tons of sleep or stressing yourself out. So I’m gonna see how this goes. We have a new staff member Joeabandonedmine who’s doing a lot of work on this, so major props to him.
I’ll talk a little about Takeshi the series. Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi (OrLegend of End of the Century Leader Takeshi) started in Shounen Jump issue 1997-33. That’s exactly one week before One Piece started, and Shimabukuro-sensei and Oda-sensei were friends at the time and still are, I think. Takeshi is a comedic adventure manga. Much more of a parody of typical shounen manga than a straight-up shounen manga. Though it has its own world and battles and stuff, it gets really goofy, they break the 4th wall, and they purposefully go out of their way to not take things too seriously most of the time. Like the main character looks like an ugly middle-aged man but is in the 1st grade of elementary school. Stuff gets weird and over-the-top, but it’s still got an emotional core to everything. Its ability to snap back to that emotional core from the crazy weirdness is its best point, I think.
It was one of the most popular manga in Jump for a few years. It also won the 2001 Shogakukan Manga Award for children’s manga. Though also, as I’m sure a lot of you know, it got cancelled because the author was convicted of paying for an underage prostitute in 2002 mid-arc. And Shimabukuro-sensei didn’t work on any manga for a while. Later in 2005, the series was finished off in Super Jump, a seinen manga magazine that ended publication in 2011. They printed the Wide-Bans and finished compiling the uncollected Shounen Jump chapters and also the Super Jump chapters in those (Which was the last 10 chapters of the series, and were released alongside the author’s other series Ring, which we scanlated a while back). It ended up as 24 volumes, plus a “gaiden” volume which had the original Takeshi one-shots (There were 2 of them) along with some other one-shots the author did. Shimabukuro did another book of One-Shots that was released around volume 4 of Toriko, too, if you hadn’t heard about that. Toriko also had 2 one-shots, one of which was published in 2002, so it’s possible he was planning to end Takeshi soon anyhow.
Here’s an article for Takeshi as a series if you want to hear a bit more background.
But in spite of the series’ rough publication, it’s still an excellent series I encourage you all to check out. I’m hoping to get chapters released at a somewhat regular pace. But I’m also doing Gintama, Jojolion, 81diver, and the Jojo novel The Book. So I can’t make any promises about that or how much I’m gonna do. I do at least want to get the beginning done and I hope everyone enjoys it.
Edit (12/12/2016): Made a couple really minor edits and reuploaded this chapter. All links are updated.
