Here’s the next bunch! And we’ve completed wide-ban 9! These are all gag chapters. Uh, I figure since I’m helping with typesetting so we’re releasing a bunch a week now I could maybe write a little summary of what’s going on or what I think about each one? Generally I don’t because I don’t like spoiling stuff in each chapter and some are hard to describe without just saying “This is what happens” but let’s give it a try, otherwise it feels kind of unceremonious. to just show up and say “Here’s a bunch more, ok bye” every week.

164: This is a very silly meta chapter about Shimabuu telling his characters they need to be more hype in the new century. It’s got a lot of silly extreme shit in it.
165: This one is a goofy one about the really odd character of the Poppo Elementary school infirmary teacher. It’s also kinda heart-warming maybe?
166: This is another one of those “storybook” chapters where it’s a one-off folklore version of the characters. This one has nearly no jokes and is entirely sentimental and genuine. Which is kind of a weird departure for the series.
167: This one is a one-off gag chapter that barely has any of the main characters in it at all. It’s a comedy-duo style story of salarymen trying to kill themselves after the company they work for imploded, but it’s done in such a silly way it’s mainly just a lot of silly morbid humor and never gets serious really. It’s kinda like that beetle one for a ways back.
168: This one is the series debut of Legman! The long awaited weird shy alien character Legman with his weird abilities. This one’s pretty silly.
169: And this is the last one of wide-ban 9! It’s also about Legman now that things cooled down from meeting him in the last chapter. This one is VERY silly and absurd.

Here’s some more! I’m trying really hard to get these all cleaned and typeset to the point where I may need to slow down a bit because I’m spending like tons and tons of my free time on it. BUT we’re now finally done with the Devil Black World Arc! That arc finally ends with a total of 30 chapters in chapter 160. Then chapter 163 is the final chapter released in the 20th century! And there’s a whole gag thing about how the series is called ‘End of the Century Leader’ and now the century is ending, so they did a fake-out ending. A technique used many many times 19 years later in Gintama by Sorachi-sensei. Oh, also 162 has the most text of any chapter in the series. So quite a collection of unique chapters we’ve got here. Now we’ve got 84 chapters left to release!

Here’s the next bunch! We’re releasing it on Friday because I’m gonna be away on vacation for the next few days. We’re now into wide-ban 9. We’re ALMOST done with the Devil Black arc now finally. It is a LONG arc but we’re finally nearing the climax. The last chapter of the arc is 160 which we’ll probably get to somewhat soon. I’m really trying to get the rest of this series done in the near future and we’ve got 90 chapters to go.

I’m mainly focusing on getting this series done since it’s all just cleaning and typesetting and final checking that’s left. I’m trying to do at least one of those jobs on a couple chapters a day. But we’ve still got a lot to go. Meanwhile I’m working on Shima Kōsaku volume 2 and next week there’s a new 3-Gatsu no Lion chapter, so look forward to all that.

Ok, here’s a whole bunch more! These Devil Black arc chapters are pretty easy to typeset because for this small 30-chapter period the manga becomes more like a manga with a normal amount of text which is like 5-10 lines per page rather than like 40 generally found in gag manga like this. So we’re able to get them done pretty fast. Plus since I finished all the translating I can help out with it. Just don’t expect the entire rest of the series to get released this fast. I think from when we released the first chapter of this wide-ban to the end of it now has been just 3 weeks so it’s honestly amazing even to me that we were able to pull that off (If you recall, we finished Wide-Ban 1 in December 2017 and Wide-Ban 2 in April 2020 so it took 2 and a half years to do one wide-ban at that time). Ok, here’s a bunch! I’ve been trying to spend some time helping with cleaning and typesetting since I finished all the translations. But there’s still a lot of chapters to go so we’re just doing it a little chunk at a time. This finishes off the Ultimate Duo Battle mini-arc and now we’re in the real midst of the Devil Black arc now! And from here there’s all sorts of crazy DBZ-ish shit happening. And we’ve got 106 chapters to go!

Mangadex finally added back chapter editing so all the volume versions of things are finally back up on there. So since we have all the regular features back I’m just gonna upload there, rather than there AND imgur because uploading albums with large numbers of images to imgur is a pain. Images tend to randomly not upload or the order gets messed up and it takes a while to double-check everything until it works. I know some folks need a VPN to access Mangadex but I’d really prefer it this way. If people really really want me to I can go back to adding them to imgur/cubari but for now I’m not doing that.

Here’s the next 3! We got 3 done this week. I’ve finally finished the massive amount of volume-scanlating I’ve done the past 2 months so now I can do… other things. I’d really like to get through the rest of this series in the near future, even if it seems unlikely to finish within this year at this point (We’d have to get something like nearly 2 chapters out per day to do that). But regardless, there’s 112 chapters left to go!

This arc continues with the Ultimate Duo Battle thingy. It’s really a fun little tournament arc before it expands bigger into the full Devil Black arc. These chapters contain some of the more standard battle-manga-y battles and also some good silly comedic ones. I hope you all enjoy it!

And here’s 131 and 132! We continue with the Ultimate Duo Battle part of the Devil Black arc! WE have 115 chapters left to go! Also we’ve now ended wide-ban 7 and 132 is the fist chapter of wide-ban 8! The Devil Black arc keeps going for all of wide-ban 8 and ends in wide-ban 9 so we’ve got a while to go here this is sort of still the beginning of it.

Besides this we’re trying to finish volume versions of the new volumes of JoJolion, Ikoku Nikki, and 3-Gatsu no Lion. They’re almost done, though 3-Gatsu no Lion may take a bit because it has so many redraws. But I’m hoping the other ones get done within the next week-ish.

Okay, and with 129 and 130 we are finally into the Devil Black arc! And not only that, I am finally finished translating the whole series! 0 chapters left! I’m pretty proud of that as basically getting to that point involved translating several chapters a week for nearly a year. Now we’re just counting down the finished chapters! There’s 117 to go! I’m right now trying to finish some volume versions of stuff but once those are done I’ll shift to doing more cleaning and typesetting of this series in hopes we get it 100% done in the near future (117 chapters is still gonna take a while to do, though.)

So, the Devil Black arc is the longest arc in the series and goes for 30 chapters. 129 is a gag chapter, 130 is the first chapter of that arc. But it’s a lot of fun and has lots of interesting shit in it. The arc gets kind of Dragonball-ish as it goes on. Depending on if that’s something you’d be into or not.

Okay, here is 125 and 126! These are two fun goofy one-off chapters. We’re finally nearly at the Devil Black arc.
The last chapter I finished translating is 242 so there’s 5 left to translate. I basically had no time to work on it this week because I had a lot of other IRL stuff going on. There’s 119 chapters left to scanlate.

And Mangadex has FINALLY allowed uploading new series. So I was able to add Mugen Tengoku, Yuugai Muzai Gangu, and Section Chief Shima Kōsaku on there. Though I still can’t edit chapters so all the fixes and better-quality versions of a whole bunch of chapters are still waiting on that feature to exist.

Okay, here is 125 and 126! The first one of these is a goofy silly tournament/competition one-off chapter and the second one is a flashback chapter to the days of the Leaders’ preschool! The one and only of such chapters. They’re great, I hope you enjoy them! The first one is one of the wordiest chapters in the entire series so I hope ya’ll appreciate this!

I have 6 chapters left to translate. After working my ass off to do this whole series for the past year I’m finally nearly done. I’m gonna try to finish it this week if I can. So then I’ll have to go back to counting down just how many chapters are left to scanlate until the end. There’s 121 now! Once I’ve finished translating and finished some other immediate stuff, I’ll be able to use that time to clean and typeset this series so it should come out faster.

Speaking of immediate stuff right now we’re working on: Cleaning and redrawing JoJolion volume 27 to release that soon and finish up the series. 3-Gatsu no Lion volume 16 which just came out (I need to translate all the extras and differences between the magazine chapters and the volumes, too.) The next 3-Gatsu no Lion chapter comes out on Thursday, so there’s that to do soon. Then there’s the new Ikoku Nikki volume coming out this week (Though there’s still no new regular chapter as Yamashita-sensei is working on her other series this month again.) Plus there’s finishing the last couple OLD JoJolion volumes and then doing more of Shima Kousaku, so really I’ve just got tons of stuff to do all at once so I hope ya’ll are looking forward to all that. I’m gonna try to keep pacing myself and not overwork myself.
